Save Fairy Alley
A community powered campaign to protect neighborhood art and Austin’s creative identity.
This is about more than one painted alley. It is about:
How our tax dollars are spent
Whether community voices and public space are valued
Whether children’s joy and neighborhood identity count as “real” priorities
While many streets, sidewalks, and bike lanes still need basic safety improvements, removing a beloved, low cost, city approved art space sends the wrong message. We are asking leaders to listen to the community and approve an exemption that keeps Fairy Alley intact.

Fairy Alley is a beloved neighborhood art space that brings joy to kids and families every day. It is safe, city approved, and harms no one.Repaving it while real safety issues go unfixed is a misuse of tax dollars and a loss for our community.
I am asking TxDOT to approve the City of Austin’s exemption request and keep Fairy Alley intact.

Subject: Please Approve the Fairy Alley Exemption
Hi, my name is ________ and I am an Austin resident.
I am writing to request that TxDOT approve the City of Austin’s exemption request for Fairy Alley. This space is safe, family friendly, and deeply valued by the community. Repaving it would erase a joyful, city approved project that harms no one, while many other infrastructure needs remain unmet.
Please work with the neighborhood instead of against it and protect Fairy Alley.
Thank you for your time,

Hi, my name is ________. I live in Austin.
I am calling with concerns about the potential repaving of Fairy Alley and other city approved neighborhood art projects. Fairy Alley brings joy, creativity, and connection to our community and harms no one. At a time when many streets and sidewalks need real safety improvements, spending money to erase a beloved community space feels wasteful and unnecessary.
I am asking TxDOT to approve the City’s exemption request and keep Fairy Alley intact.
Thank you.
