The Young Vote Film Screening

At almost every demonstration I attend, I hear the same question: “Where are the young people?”

This screening of The Young Vote invites us to sit with that question more seriously.

The documentary follows a diverse group of students and activists during the 2020 election to explore young people’s perceptions of voting and civic engagement. Rather than reducing a generation to apathy, it offers a closer look at how young people think about participation, representation, and their relationship to the political system.

Following the screening, there will be a live Q&A with Sophia DeLoretto-Chudy, founder of the Texas Voter Project and a featured participant in the film.

Come watch the film, hear directly from someone in it, and join a conversation about what youth civic engagement actually looks like right now.

Girls, Gays & Guns (POSTPONED FROM APRIL 4)

Whether this is your first time ever considering getting near a firearm—much less stepping onto a gun range—or you grew up with guns in your home, this is an opportunity for the girls, gays, and gun experts of South Austin to get together for a day at the range to learn, practice, and share the skills necessary to feel confident and safe with firearms.

These events are designed to create a welcoming space for women, queer people, and supportive allies who are curious about firearms but may not always feel comfortable entering traditional gun spaces. Together we’ll build practical knowledge around safe handling and responsible ownership while learning from one another and strengthening a community grounded in safety, education, and mutual respect.

Please invite your like-minded friends!

Zilker Run Club

Zilker Run Club

More than a run club.

A monthly neighborhood run that connects people to each other, local businesses, and the place they live.

This is not about pace. It’s about place.

Once a month, we run a short loop through Zilker and end at a local business. Stick around, meet people, grab something to eat or drink, and get a little more connected to the neighborhood you live in.

No pressure, no competition, just community.

Candidates, Not Parties: Why Gen Z and Millennials are Ditching the Two-Party System

“Why don’t young people vote?”

I hear this question at literally every event I go to.

Short answer: it’s not apathy.

Long answer: we’re getting into it on Monday.

I’m hosting a conversation with Mike Collier (independent candidate for Texas Lt. Governor) about:
– why so many young people identify as independent
– why that doesn’t automatically translate to turnout
– and what campaigns are getting wrong

Come listen, ask questions, or just lurk.
