To protect the art on fairy alley To preserve it for my daughter’s enjoyment I love Fairy Alley Art Matters! Geez, a tiny alleyway, dedicated to Childrens dreams and imagination. I would imagine it would be obvious and it keeps Austin the way it is. Because fairy alley means so much to the children of the neighborhood. It is a calm place to walk for all ages. It brings joy. No cars drive on it. Or rarely. Why get rid of something the neighborhood LOVES!!!! ????? Protect the alley Please do not take away Fairy Alley. Our community depends on it to bring joy. I love Fairy Alley and it is such a special place for the community! Who doesn't love Fairies! Fairy alley is good for the city and good for the kids We own the house on 1500 Dexter street that is right next to Fairy Alley. It brings so much joy to the neighborhood and is not a throughway so we don’t understand why it would need to be covered!! I want Fairy Alley to stay! Fairy alley should not be ruined! This is for children! It’s a beautiful wonderful happy space. Fairy alley is the best! The joy it brings to our neighborhood. To keep fairy alley i like fairy alley Because I love visible outdoor and street art all over my city that all citizens can enjoy for free. My community Fairy Alley is causing no harm and brings joy to us everyday! Help preserve Fairy Alley in our neighborhood Fairy Alley is a lovely, peace filled and magical place where all' ages can gather and connect with one another in a positive, meaningful expérience. More places not less are needed more than ever! The Fairy Alley has been part of our community for many years. There is no political message here. It’s just meant to make kids happy. Don’t take Fairy Alley away!! It’s one of the things I loved about this neighborhood when I moved here. It is so Austin from when I first lived here. Why I loved back. We have been experiencing the daily magic of Fairy Alley for many years, and we hope that the young families in the neighborhood can continue to share in that beauty and creative community! We need to save art! This is a pedestrian alley that is a wonderful contribution to the neighborhood. It doesn’t distract drivers, it does distract and entertain both children and adults! My family has loved FairyAlley for many years. Sometimes we visit for solace, sometimes for joy. We all need beauty in our lives. Every morning, I walk through fairy alley with my baby and it brings us so much joy. The art is so beautiful, fun, and special to us. because no one drives down this alley and the community (myself included) loves to walk down it! We love Fairie Alley! Because the fairy alley is a staple of the community. We live here and we love this place, I want to take my kids here and I want them to see it in this beautiful and colorful state Fairy alley is a magical special place. I used to live in Zilker and LOVE this spot! I live around the corner and love this beautiful alley in our neighborhood. It gives us something so fun and enchanting for the families who live here SAVE FAIRY ALLEY I, my current partner, and my ex, all have worked to embellish Fairy Alley and Casa Wonderlandia over the years. It's an Austin treasure and should be honored as such, NOT eradicated! Why are you so bent on destroying and eroding what makes Austin so special?? And if it hadn't been for Suvi's tireless intervention, all the trees along its east side would have been mindlessly cut down by the city, who knows why? It magical and we need more if that. Not sterile black and grey uniform everything. It’s a place for families, community, creativity and love. I walk down this street at least every week when I go to the Alamo drafthouse. It always feels magical and like a return to my daughters’ childhood. It brings me joy!! Love the alley, brings me joy!! Fairy Alley is a magical place in Austin. The alley and all of the street art in the city arepart of the charm that helps Austin be set apart from all the boring concrete cities in Texas. Keep the magic alive! I helped create Fairy Alley with Suvi Aika. I was born and raised in Austin but the property taxes ran me out of my home town. If you destroy part of “Keep Austin Weird” then you are hypocrites as to what made Austin weird! Oh Well!!! Fairy Alley is a beloved, sweet surprise, not just for the Zilker neighborhood, but my friends have taken children there from Mueller and Northwest Hills to see what the fairies have done. We need sweet places of community joy like Fairy Alley. Save Fairy Alley! It’s my neighborhood. Fairy Alley is a treasured community space that is cared for, loved and needed as it brings us together in joy. My children and I have always gone to fairy alley and helped decorate in 2005 it brings joy to the community and on the border on neighborhood and parking garage that went up. We live in another neighborhood but still like to know and visit fairy alley. Because the arts should be kept alive and this hurts no one. Instead shows value in community. You would be so stupid to get rid of this This special spot is part of what makes Austin unique. Keeping it intact is an easy way to preserve joy, community, and art. It’s doing to harm. Please let it stay. We need more beauty in this world. First amendment’s codified protection for the people’s freedom of speech & expression. My husband, kids and I live in the neighborhood with Fairy Alley and enjoy it regularly. Losing the art there would undermine our neighborhood community. Fairly alley and all art adds value to our communities. It seems the Gov and those who surround him are hellbent in erasing all that has made Austin a unique and wonderful city. Resident since 1983!!! We need to keep neighborhood projects alive. This is a gathering place in the neighborhood and gives people and kids joy "If we cannot maintain beauty, joy, and a safe community, what is the point?! Austin has had pride in its ability to “keep it weird”, while also moving into the 21st c., with an eye toward growing and evolving. Retaining the places and events that have made Austin a unique city, are not only worth supporting, but a part of our identity here in the capital city, and “Live Music Capital of the World”. Please work with the community to retain Fairy Alley, and other Austin public murals like it." The fact that I even need to sign a petition, here is ridiculous. We don’t have better things to do with our time than to destroy beauty. Supporting and preserving the character of a unique Austin neighborhood from being erased. Once it is gone, another piece of what makes Austin such an incredible place to live is history and can never be recreated. SAVE FAIRY ALLEY! This is such a fun cute part of the neighborhood I always walk through and see people with their kids and dogs taking pictures To beatify our life I take my niece and nephew to Fairy Alley often to enjoy the magic it provides. This is absolutely absurd. Why would you take down neighborhood artwork because you’re scared of rainbow crosswalks? Public art is vital to our community. We live in the neighborhood and appreciate this art installation as something that is unique and beautiful and apolitical. This alley is a small example of what makes Austin unique. Please preserve it! There’s no good reason to destroy Fairy Alley & children’s joy. This is what the neighborhood wants. Please save a neighborhood treasure. This is part of zilker neighborhood’s beautiful and human charm Because this little alley is all that is holding us together right now. Something so innocent and sweet deserves to stay. Why spend money and manpower to pave over a community art space that was approved by the city years ago. Not to mention breaking little children's hearts for no reason. I am an Austin fan and Fairy Alley is dear to me. It symbolizes the city’s art and its artists and its identity. Please do not pave over this treasure. We need to protect our communities. Keep Austin's art alive Fairy Alley is a treasure! Both of my children love the wonder of fairy alley. It is magical. It needs to be preserved. Please don’t pave or destroy Fairy Island!! It is a beautiful magical place loved by many. When I visit my friend who lives nearby we go for a walk and always visit the alley! I love it. Austin and their art is awesome! I signed to protect Fairy Alley and all murals in Austin! Please preserve this half block of primarily pedestrian alleyway that has been decorate for the enjoyment of kids that have come to know it as Fairy Alley. It is literally flowers, fairy figurines, and street art of fish and more flowers. There is no value to destroying it other than to make people hate you. I want to save Fairy Alley. It is one of the things that makes this neighborhood special. To keep a sweet quirky fantasy place I was one of the Artists who worked on this wonderful neighborhood piece. It inspired a whole neighborhood and should remain a neighborhood treasure. I live in the ZILKER r neighborhood and have always loved fairy alley! This street is a beautiful and whimsical street and the world needs more of them…places that we come across that just bring sheer joy!!! I live in the hood and love this place Why don’t we use the money to fix actual problems in our streets, like the huge potholes and rough roads that damage your car? Save a little space for beauty, community and imagination in a city increasingly becoming bland and corporate save this precious art Love Fairy Alley! I lived 2 blocks away on Jessie St for 9 years. My kids loved it, and it always brought joy to my whole family. It was one of the vanishing was that Austin was weird. Because I lived in Austin for 22 years and it’s a crime to destroy this beautiful part of the city. Why on earth would you want to "bulldoze" something so beautiful, amazing, and meaningful?! Don't you have better things to do, Mr. Abbott? Get a LIFE! There is no valid reason to whitewash this sweet little one block alleyway, which is a joyful little space, one of many, which makes Austin special. This is not about safety, but is politically motivated to push forward an unpopular agenda. This is absolute ridiculousness. Fairy Alley used to a dark dirty littered filled pit. When the city wouldn't clean it up, the neighborhood did. It has become a place of community pride, Makes no sense to erase it. Fairy Alley is a magical and whimsical place shared by all. Don’t pave over it. Fairy Alley has been a part of our lives for over 20 years. We have dear friends that live close by and over the years, Fairy Alley has become a touch stone for my kids and I. They're 22 and 19 now, we need this kind of whimsy. It's important. This is a magical place that sparks joy in everyone who visits. It is not unsafe or a problem for ANYONE. Please use the funds to repair other streets that actually need it. Fairy alley is an incredible place. Must protect! Fairy alley is a community landmark Community murals and street art epitomize Austin's character as a creative, free-spirited city. We must maintain them and even encourage their creation. We've lost so many murals already and so much of Austin's character. Why visit here if all you're going to get is the same old dose of ordinary that you can get anywhere else? Keep fairy alley and I the local art! Don’t kill our neighborhood’s unique character Austin IS ART!!! I lived in Austin for nearly 40 years and have wonderful memories of Fairy Alley and the artist that sparked its creation. "This is one of those small magical pieces of what takes a city from a place to exist, to a home with interest, magic, and wonder. These pieces of our city must be protected and preserved." Please do the right thing and keep/save Fairy Alley. Important for neighborhood and children My young daughter and I love this place, it is a sweet aspect of her childhood growing up around the corner. I am both a nanny (8 years now!) and a grandmother, and Fairy Alley is where we go to communicate with the fairy world. We leave letters and decorations for fairy communities. We imagine stories and role-play our own. Destroying Fairy Alley would be wicked and mean and cruel and heartless. And hateful." It’s such a wonderful, special, community street that makes people and pets happy! Because art is an important aspect in everyone’s life. Life is so much better and more enjoyable when we can look at, study, and create art!! I enjoy the charm of the alley, it adds to the neighborhood Fairy Alley is a key part in why I fell in love with this neighborhood and moved into an apartment next door. I show it to everyone that comes by, and it has proven to be loved by all. A true community point where folks stop, admire, and connect with each other. Removing this would be an absolute waste of money that helps no one. Fairy Alley is one of my favorite aspects of living where I do, I show it to every friend & family member that visits! It’s an important and unique place that keeps my spirits high and my sense of community strong The kids love this place and frankly so do I and everyone I bring down the alley. It doesn’t harm anyone nor does it effect anyone. Don’t be a grinch ! Keep the Art. Have a heart. This space is a treasure in my neighborhood and what makes Austin so special is unique spots like this. I used to live in that single row of apartments behind Alamo. My bedroom window looked down on Fairy Alley. It brought a little bit of magic to my days to see it glisten (especially when it rained), and to see how it brought our community together. We have already destroyed so much of what makes Austin beautiful and unique. Let’s not let Fairy Alley be the next casualty! I believe in art and free expression. It adds beauty to the neighborhood and brings people together. It is a positive addition to the neighborhood. Trying to keep Austin, Austin! This is a gathering place and tourist destination! Too misguided, wasteful and expensive to use resources to take away! My children love Fairy Alley so much, please don’t paint over it! Because I love fairy alley! It’s always a joy to run/walk by and love that it gives the community a third place! Please do not take this away from our neighborhood! The dogs I walk absolutely LOVE Fairy Alley. Fairy Alley made me fall in love with my neighborhood and made me feel at home and welcome in moving to Austin. I look out to it every morning and smile. The symbolism of painting over it black saddens me deeply. I love fairy alley and we need things like this that are purely for joy!
